What this tour covers

SkillSwap is designed to be fast, clean and intuitive — but it helps to understand how each section works together. This guide walks you through the five main parts of the platform: Dashboard, Matches, Inbox, Calendar and Progress.

By the end, you’ll know exactly where to go to learn, teach, schedule, and grow inside SkillSwap.

Dashboard — your home base

Open the Dashboard at app.skillswap.io/dashboard. This is the first thing you see after signing in.

  • Calendar preview — shows your next upcoming session.
  • Matches highlight — a quick look at recommended people you can learn from or teach.
  • Activity widget — time spent on learninng and teaching.
  • Level widget — your current XP, level, and recent achievements.

Think of the Dashboard as a “summary of your SkillSwap life” — the place that tells you what needs your attention today.

Matches — find the right people

Go to app.skillswap.io/matches to discover people whose skills align with yours.

  • You’ll see Match Scores — a number from 0–100 that shows how well someone fits your learning and teaching needs.
  • Click on a profile card to view their skills, languages, availability, XP, badges and reviews.
  • From the matched person's card, click Chat to start a conversation and move toward scheduling your first session.

To understand how matching works behind the scenes, check How matching works and Match scores explained.

Inbox — where conversations happen

The Inbox is your dedicated space for messaging, scheduling and coordinating with your matches.

  • Every match you accept appears as a chat thread in your Inbox.
  • You can send messages, share links and coordinate sessions.
  • Use the “+” → Schedule a session button to create a session request directly from the conversation.

Learn more in How chat works and Session requests in chat.

Calendar — your sessions control center

The Calendar shows everything related to your live 1:1 sessions. It has three tabs:

  • Upcoming — sessions that are already confirmed.
  • Requests — outgoing and incoming session requests.
  • History — past completed sessions (used for XP and review tracking).

You can reschedule or cancel a session from inside the Calendar. When a session is confirmed, a Connect button appears 5 minutes before the start.

To learn how everything works inside the session system, read How scheduling works and Cancelling & rescheduling.

Progress — XP, levels & badges

Your Progress page tracks your long-term growth inside SkillSwap. Every session adds XP — whether you are learning or teaching — and XP raises your level over time.

  • Your level — based on total XP earned from all sessions.
  • XP breakdown — see how much XP came from learning vs teaching.
  • Badges — unique achievements you unlock as you grow.
