Blocking a user

Blocking someone immediately protects your experience. Once blocked, the other user:

  • Cannot message you
  • Cannot appear in your Matches list
  • Cannot send session requests
  • Cannot view your profile inside the match system

How to block a user

  • Open their profile → click Block
  • Or open the chat → options menu → Block user

Unblocking someone

You can unblock a user anytime from your Settings → Blocked users tab.

Reporting a user

Reports allow us to keep SkillSwap respectful and safe. Use the report feature if someone:

  • Harasses or bullies you
  • Acts inappropriately on video
  • Uses offensive or discriminatory language
  • Spams or advertises services
  • Behaves suspiciously

What happens after reporting

Your report is:

  • Private — the user never learns who reported them
  • Reviewed by the moderation team
  • Evaluated based on severity and repeated behaviour

Actions may include warnings, restrictions, or permanent removal.

When blocking is recommended

  • You feel uncomfortable communicating further
  • The user ignores boundaries
  • You had a negative session experience
  • You no longer wish to interact with them
