What badges are

Badges are special milestones you unlock as you use SkillSwap — for getting started, staying consistent, teaching, learning and exploring new skills. They’re designed to celebrate meaningful behaviour, not just raw time online.

Where to see your badges

  • On the Progress page — as a grid of all badges you have and those you can still unlock.
  • On your profile — selected badges may appear next to your level so others can quickly see what you’re proud of.
  • On Badges page — list of all badges.

Badge categories

SkillSwap badges are grouped into several themes. Exact names and requirements can evolve over time, but the main categories usually include:

  • Getting started — creating your account, completing your profile, doing your first session.
  • Learning journey — number of sessions as a learner, total learning minutes, trying new skills.
  • Teaching & impact — tutoring sessions completed, time spent teaching, helping multiple learners.
  • Consistency — coming back week after week, building a sustainable learning habit.
  • Special moments — unique combinations of activity or rare milestones.

How unlock conditions are shown

For each badge, the Progress page shows either:

  • Unlocked — with the date you earned it (if available), or
  • Locked — with a short description of what you need to do next.

Because SkillSwap is evolving, new badges may be added and existing ones may be fine-tuned. Always rely on the text you see directly under each badge inside the app — that’s the most accurate unlock description.

Do badges ever disappear?

Once a badge is unlocked, it normally stays on your profile as part of your history. In rare cases (for example, limited-time events), some badges may only be available during a specific period.
