What are Skill Points (SP)?
Skill Points (SP) are SkillSwap's internal learning currency. You use SP to pay for live 1:1 sessions, and you earn SP when you teach or through certain rewards and promotions.
Think of SP as time tokens for learning — not as cryptocurrency or an investment product. They only exist inside SkillSwap and are always shown together with their real money value when you top up.
What SP are used for
- Paying for sessions — when you book a session as a learner, the cost is shown in SP.
- Rewarding teaching — when you teach, you can earn SP that you later spend on your own learning.
- Occasional rewards — challenges or promotions may grant bonus SP.
What SP are not
- SP are not a cryptocurrency and are not traded on any external markets.
- SP are not an investment and do not accrue interest.
- SP are not legal tender and can't be used outside SkillSwap.
How you get Skill Points
- Top-ups — buy SP directly in your Wallet using a card or other available payment methods.
- Subscription plans (if available) — receive a bundle of SP every billing period as part of your plan.
- Teaching sessions — earn SP when you act as the tutor in a confirmed, completed session.
All top-ups and plans always show the exact price and how many SP you'll receive before you confirm any payment. These values may change over time, so always rely on what you see on the checkout screen.
SP balance and history
Your current SP balance is visible in the Wallet and in the main navigation bar inside the app. When you:
- Buy SP — your balance increases
- Pay for a session — your balance decreases
- Teach a completed session — your balance increases again
You can also review your SP movements (top-ups, session costs, rewards) in your transaction or session history, depending on the version of the app you're using.
Do Skill Points expire?
If SkillSwap ever applies an expiration rule to promotional or purchased SP, this will be clearly shown in your Wallet, on the checkout screen, or in the specific campaign terms.
Always rely on the information shown in the app and in the Terms of use for the most accurate and up-to-date rules.
